For the first time since Chris finished grad. school, we were invited to a work party. Not just any work party, but it was only for the kids of the employees. This was actually during our second day here, when we were experiencing major jet lag, but after awhile, the kids harnessed some energy and enjoyed themselves.
There had been an entertainer booked for the occasion but due to some snowfall, he cancelled. Never fear, the kids kept busy with activities such as coloring, card making, cookie decorating, eating, and making snowman cupcakes.

After awhile, we were told Father Christmas had arrived in his grotto.

The kids were excited for their gifts and to hang out in the grotto for awhile.

To top the afternoon off, the kids were all invited into the conference room that had been set up as a ‘candy bar.’

It truly was a kids’ dream come true. Each child was given a little bag and were told to take as much candy as they wanted or would fit into their bags. Believe it or not, when all the kids had taken all the candy they could want, there was still quite a bit left over and the adults were allowed to come in and fill their bags.
On our way out the door, the kids were each handed another gift bag with little toys. Caleb immediately put on the shades he found in his bag and Cami’s crown has been a permanent fixture on top of her head since she found it in her bag. We had to pry it off her head when she was asleep in bed that night.

We had to laugh as we walked back to the tube station – the kids were dancing and singing ‘YMCA’. Their happiness was contagious and there were a few people we passed who joined in. Nothing like happy kids pumped up on sugar.
I think the kids think Chris goes to a party at work everyday. If only life could be that sweet.
