My sweetheart was going to be away for Valentine’s Day this year so we surprised the kids and celebrated a whole day early. It happened to be the first day of our week long half-term school break. I had visions of waking the kids up early to come down for breakfast and them not being happy with me. Then they’d come downstairs and be thrilled with the surprise.
As it turns out, the morning didn’t go as planned. All four of the kids smelled breakfast cooking (a very rare thing in our house) and came down on their own accord. They were still pleasantly surprised.

Each of the kids got some sweets as well as books. I didn’t get any pictures of the books, but Emma & Caleb got Calvin & Hobbes comic books (their new favorites); Hannah got some more Magic Fairy books; and Cami got some Berenstain Bear reading books.
My gift hasn’t arrived yet but I was able to pick it out at the mall the Saturday before – an anniversary band. I surprised Chris with his favorite picture from our trip to Wengen (the most beautiful place on earth) mounted as a canvas.

It was a wonderful morning.
On the actual day, we made our own individual heart-shaped pizzas. The kids loved doing this, as we don’t make homemade pizza as much as we used to.
