Unexpected Day of Pampering

Our Saturdays most weeks play out like the primary song “Saturday is a special day; it’s the day we get ready for Sunday.” We usually clean the house and all those fun things so we can relax on Sunday. Yesterday was no exception. I have come to dread that part of Saturdays but push through it because I enjoy the results! Caleb also had Tee-Ball practice and we had other errands to run. I did make an appointment to get a haircut, which I had been trying to get in to do for a couple weeks. While I was there, one of the gals decided to try out their new pedicure massager. They found out I have never submitted to a pedicure and offered to give me one on the house so they could try it out. Woo-hoo – a haircut, a highlight, and then a pedicure!! It’s amazing what can make you feel renewed – then coming home to a clean house and happy kids – what a day!

We did top it off with one other treat. We found last minute tickets to see Mary Poppins on Broadway so we used that for our date night while the kids were home with friends. Chris and I had so much fun watching the performance! The music, dancing, tricks, and props were amazing! My all-time favorite was probably “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” with all the fun choreography but “Jolly Holiday” comes in as a close second!

For a day that I thought was just going to be another Saturday, it was a very unexpected, but welcomed day of pampering for my soul!

Your post about Saturday is a special day rings true for me too. I’ve been trying to get some ofthat out of the way earlier in the week so it doesn’t take all day, but it still seems to take a chunk of time. Mary Poppins sounds like it was good! I wonder if my girls would appreciate it?

I think your girls would LOVE Mary Poppins, although there were a couple parts we thought Caleb would have been scared of, if he was there. There is a mean nanny that was Mr. Banks nanny and then another scary part with toys coming to life. Although there were a number of kids around us and they didn’t seem too bothered by it.

I didn’t realize that there was a production of Mary Poppins on Broadway right now. Wow! If that’s not enough reason to get me to NYC, I don’t know what is. I’m glad you liked it. Do you know if TKTs has tix for it, or is it too popular?
