We awoke to a normal day but the weather called for a ‘wintry mix’. Schools were canceling classes, scouts was canceled, and both gyms (for the girls and Caleb) were closed. Around lunch time the snow started to come down and it didn’t stop until the sun had gone down. At that time, everything started to turn to ice. We are so thankful for a warm house to be out of the elements. We were grateful Chris made it home safely on the slick roads, even though it took him a good 15 minutes to unearth the car when he got off the bus.
The kids looked at this big storm as heaven sent! They were chomping at the bit to go outside to play in it as soon as the first snow flakes began to fall. I finally unearthed all the snow gear and we layered it all on. As soon as the door was opened it was like I had just opened the gates at a horse race – they were off!
Emma immediately stopped, face-upward to get the full effect of the snow fall.

We played for quite a long while – long enough for the sidewalks that I had just shoveled to be filled again. We went inside and enjoyed hot chocolate . . . with mini marshmallows of course!
