Thank you for all your comments on how to keep your kids’ rooms clean . . . and how to get them to clean up. I am definitely taking them all to heart as we continue on this road.
The kids did feel a sense of celebration last night as they went to bed, realizing the floor was actually clean enough to have a sleep over on. So, they brought the sleeping bags down from the attic and set up camp. You can see that Caleb makes sure he has every book he might possibly need before going to bed (this is part of the reason he is most of the problem in the ‘messy room case’).
Chris told the kids to sleep in this morning since it was General Conference and we could relax until noon (sometimes it’s nice having that 2 hour time difference). He put the kids under strict orders to not wake us up until 8:00 a.m. They could play with Cami or whatever but to let us have until 8:00 a.m. I thought he was pushing his luck but the kids were great. I heard Cami wake up around 6:45 a.m. and the kids got her out of her crib. We heard them making noise and doing things but they were great to let us relax. When we emerged at 8:00 a.m. the kids were so excited to show us that they had cleaned up the sleeping bags (rolled up and put away in the attic), had gotten dressed, and had gotten Cami ready for the day (this included changing a messy diaper – oh my! Emma did a GREAT job!).
After breakfast Chris took the older kids to Home Depot’s free Kids’ Workshop. Brooke told me about this awhile ago but this is the 1st first Saturday that we’ve been able to go. The kids made crayon holder trucks and were so excited.
That’s a nice shiner Caleb’s got their, Becca. What happened? Was this a result of his having a messy room and a mother with worn-down patience?!
Caleb’s shiner is a result of him wrestling with his sisters. But, the person that caused it was himself – he knee-ed himself and got a ‘jean burn.’ You can tell he’s a ‘great’ wrestler 🙂
Haha! That’s funny. Poor kid.
