Tuesday we got out of the house again – to a small zoo close by. I don’t know why but we’ve always been there during the ‘off-season’ so we’ve never enjoyed all the animals or the bonus features, like the train that circles the outskirts of the zoo. Admission is free on Mondays and Tuesdays and I guess a lot of others had the same idea as we did because there were so many people there!
We enjoyed reacquainting ourselves with the animals:

The younger kids got a little frustrated because Emma brought her camera to take some pictures and would take a long time trying to get ‘just the right photo.’

After seeing all the animals and dragging Emma behind us, we decided to ride the train. Cami couldn’t wait! She continually reminded us about it while we were in the zoo. When we did get to the train, the line was very long. We had to wait for the train to go around a couple of times before we had a turn. Cami was almost beside herself with impatience as she parked herself on the floor to mope. THEN when we got to the front of the line, the conductor stopped us to say there wasn’t any room for 5 more people but I think after seeing my face of frustration, agreed we could all get on as long as we split up. Not a problem. Hannah and Emma happily ran to the front of the train while I took Caleb and Cami further back. Cami was her happy self again as soon as she was seated!

Across the street from the zoo is a large park – actually, 3 large parks in one area. So, we took a picnic lunch across the street and then played at the park.

It was a great day . . . and Caleb was able to use our outing for a couple of his cub scout requirements!
