Our ‘summer of fun’ was still in the planning stages when we realized our 6 weeks of summer was quickly filling up: Philmont Family Reunion, California Family Reunion, Bulgaria Gym Training Camp, and London Girl’s Camp. Our fun-filled summer was beginning to look like a logistical nightmare before we even got started! What ever happened to long, lazy summers?! Definitely not something that happens in the UK!
As we started working through our plans, we quickly decided camping at Philmont would not be very fun if we were all feeling jet lagged. We finally decided that the kids and I would fly to the states a week earlier than we had planned so we, at least, could be on the right sleep schedule before we started traipsing around. This was probably the smartest decision we could make as I couldn’t get the kids to stay awake past 8:00 p.m. or stay asleep past 5:00 a.m. for most of the week!

We used the week to our benefit as we visited our favorite stores . . . to stock up on those things we can’t get here in the UK.
The kids couldn’t get enough of ‘cousin time’ and swimming in the pool.

One day I even had a play date! Two of my first friends at BYU live in Northern California. I hadn’t seen either of them for at least 10 years so we jumped at the chance and got together at my in-laws.

The kids played in the pool for an entire afternoon while the moms couldn’t get enough time to catch up!
These two – Lauren and Cami – are just a couple weeks apart and hit it off right away!

Can you tell these two are two ‘peas in a pod’? – so similar in personalities, likes, etc. Future BYU roommates??

Time flew by way too quickly but it was great to see them and feel like we could pick up where we left off . . . but now, with kids in tow – making it that much more sweeter!
