Last weekend we had a completely open Saturday. That never happens! So, we took advantage of it by doing something on our ‘To Do Before We Leave the East Coast‘ list. We walked across the Brooklyn Bridge. Yes, we had driven across it, but really, walking across it just to say you did is so much better!

The kids were troopers walking the whole bridge without whining – all but one. You may think it’s the youngest one that would complain but no, we are getting a ‘tween’ in this family and starting to wonder if we have any parenting skills at all.

Emma did bring her new school bag loaded with reading material (Harry Potter for the umpteenth time) and notebooks. She also toted along everyone’s water bottles without complaining a bit about the weight around her neck. She only wanted to stop at each..and..every..bench there was to rest.

We had a week of rain and then Saturday we woke up to clear skies. There were a lot of people on the bridge taking advantage of the nice weather.

When we arrived in Brooklyn on foot, we decided to enjoy some ice cream at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, which just so happens to be situated right under the bridge.

Caleb mostly wore his chocolate ice cream on his face, but he enjoyed it just the same.
All in all, it was a great day in the city enjoying the sights as a family ~ building memories.
