We had a good trip out to Pennsylvania this last weekend to support Caleb in his Regional Gymnastics Meet. We felt lucky it wasn’t too far away for us but we stayed over Friday night so we didn’t have to rush to be there at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Really, staying in a hotel is the highlight of any trip for our kids because of two things – cable TV and a pool! Both of which they enjoyed Friday afternoon/evening.
Saturday morning we walked into the host gym and I’m sure our eyes visibly became larger. What a difference from the meets Caleb has done on the local level and even the state meet. This was the ‘real thing’ – kids from 7 different states, qualifying from their own individual state meets to come here to compete on a regional level. It really was amazing!

There were so many kids competing that they had them come out in two different shifts. After the first ‘flight’ finished an event, they returned to the practice area and the second ‘flight’ came out to do an event. It was amazing how smoothly this worked and how efficient things were done.

This was Caleb’s best meet this season as his scores for all his events stayed pretty consistent. His All-Around score was then higher than his other meets as well. He was a little bummed not to stand up on the medal stand like he had gotten a taste for at States but he still placed 11th All-Around for his level and age. For his first year competing in gymnastics, we thought this was an amazing feat and are so proud of how well he did.

All four boys that competed from Caleb’s team did a great job and they felt happy to end their season on a good note.

Then, if you want to compare that with his first meet, take a look – what a difference!
