Did you ever see the movie “Pay It Forward”? Wasn’t it amazing what one person could do? Have you ever paid a toll for someone in the car behind you? Doesn’t it make you feel good? Well, yesterday I was reading here and was presented a challenge to look for these little times where we can give Random Acts of Kindness (RAK). So, I have had that on my mind yesterday and today wondering what I can do – did you ever try to PLAN a RAK? I think they are meant to just fall in your lap. That’s what happened tonight.
We ordered pizza from a different place tonight (it was too hot to bake in the kitchen!) and I was excited to do it on-line – within minutes I got a call from the DRIVER just to make sure he knew which side of the street we are on (b/c it’s split by a huge park). He was so nice and genuine. He was here very quickly and was still genuinely nice. I had already paid his tip on line but wished I had some cash on hand to give him more! So, I looked up a comment number on their website and ‘reported’ my great experience and gave them his name. It felt so good to do something so little for someone! I can’t wait for more opportunities!
Check out Jenn’s blog to share any of your RAK. I’m so excited – wouldn’t the world be a completely different place if people cared for those around them instead of just themselves.
That is so neat. I need to do that more. I am glad you put Kristi’s blog up there so I could read what she wrote too. Great idea!
What a good idea! I know that’s an area I can improve on! In this world everyone could use a little more of the giving…and the receiving! What a difference it would make! I’m going to commit to doing better! Thanks for the reminder!
Almost every Thursday night, on the way home from our shift at the Temple, we stop at Macaroni Grill (it’s open until 10:00 and since we don’t get out of the Temple until 9:00, it’s still open!). Anyway, we’ve gotten to know one of the waitresses and have begun asking to sit in her area. She is so sweet. She now knows that we only want water (with lemon) to drink and that we usually have one of the salads for our meal. The other night she suggested one of the salads for us and it was perfect.
Just by being friendly and courteous to us – just one of her customers – it has paid off for her. We enjoy seeing her and she gets a good tip!!
Thank you for visiting and using the Mr. Linky!!
great story! each story motivates me to do more.
What a sweet thing to do. Since Parker has been born we have been on the receiving end of several RAK’s. This love and support can make a hard day much, much brighter.
BTW, we are LDS too. =)
