Nothing can be done in this house without the ‘monkey see, monkey do’ effect. Upon seeing Emma start on her quilt, Hannah decided she would like to try to sew one as well. Once Emma was off handling herself well with the sewing machine, I traced some squares for Hannah. She then cut them all out by herself. Some did need to be cut again, but overall, she did a great job.
This project was a little more hands-on for me as I did all of the pinning and then Hannah sewed. She was SO excited to use the sewing machine – I was afraid she’d be too excited to go slow and concentrate. But, again, I was surprised. I have NEVER seen Hannah concentrate so hard on something!
She was so proud of her first row.
Emma finished her quilt top last night and Hannah spent this afternoon catching up to her.
Tomorrow we are venturing to our nearest fabric store (about 1/2 hour away) to stock up on supplies to finish their projects. I’m excited to see them go through each step and be proud of their work. I can’t wait for them to finish so they can have a great quilt to use and great memories to go with them.
