I know many of you participated in my nephew’s pencil drive so I wanted to post a follow-up so you can see what a difference you made! Thank you to everyone who participated!

The count is in; 5,225 pencils, 213 sharpeners, 191 erasers, 14 grips, and 4 rulers. Gavin couldn’t have asked for a better outcome!! I was expecting, maybe 1,000 or so but over 5,000, no way!!!!! We packed them up today and are ready for a trip to the post office tomorrow. Thank you to everyone who donated, it was very appreciated, and I know the Iraqi children will appreciate it more than we know. Thank you again!!!
(from my sister’s blog post here)
Gavin even made the local paper for this pencil drive and the wonderful outcome it had! You can read that here.
So, thank you, thank you everyone! I do have to say a big kudos to my sister, Helen, for taking the ball and making it move forward when Gavin came up with this idea. It made me think of how many ideas my kids come up with that I brush off or ignore – I should help them develop them and run with them! Way to go Gavin and Helen!!!
