We took advantage of the Bank Holiday for May Day to spend some time in Bath.

There are lots of fun things to do in Bath, but we tried to do what the kids would be interested in. Since they are all into listening to audio books on their iPods, we downloaded a free walking tour of Bath from the internet . . . a map and the audio tour.

Perfect! We got to see all the highlights and had the option to explore more on our own schedule, if we felt so inclined.

Most of the time, we just enjoyed walking around and seeing different aspects of the town. The one thing we made sure to explore more in depth were the Roman Baths.

The free audio tour was interesting and the younger kids had a scavenger hunt to do while listening to the kids’ audio guide.

As we continued to walk around the city, we came upon some men who were playing bocce ball. I think the kids were more entranced with their game than the audio guide for that area.

One of Bath’s best known landmarks is the Royal Crescent, a row of homes.

At one time Prince Frederick, Duke of York and Albany, occupied a couple of these homes, thus adding the name ‘Royal’ onto the title.

We couldn’t go through our day at Bath without visiting some of the sweet shops . . .yummy lollies to suck on during our walk.

Then some delicious fudge to snack on during our ride home.

It was a great ‘day out of London’ . . .

. . . just what we needed!

I love Caleb’s hat! He looks so British. 🙂
Sounds like a pretty cool excursion. It reminds me of Jane Austen novels, how they always head to Bath.
