Cami is at a stage that she is one person at home and another person in public. At home she is VERY loud and outgoing, not afraid to voice her opinion. In public, she will not talk or look at anyone aside from her family. It has started to become a game to our friends to see who can get her to look at them, smile at them, or maybe answer a question. Whoever is able to achieve this feat is ‘THE chosen’ for the day as it keeps getting brought up. Of course, there have been bribes, but Cami is not to be deterred by these – she has a mind of her own!
Cami has also given me many moments of laughter as she voices her thought process.
The other night as I was putting her to bed:
Cami: Mom, you a boy.
Mom: No, I’m a girl like you.
Cami: You a girl??
Mom: Yes, just like you.
Cami: But I thought you was a MOM?!
Then yesterday at church while sitting on my lap, Cami was playing with her gum (yes, she is the fourth child and has had gum A LOT earlier than the others) and a drool spot formed on the front of my blouse. I gave her a look of mock disgust and she was very concerned to get it off. She asked me for a paper towel. I told her I didn’t have one. Her reply – “Well, get one!” I couldn’t help but laugh. Then when I gave her a tissue, she continued to try to get the drool spot off my shirt by pushing to try to soak up the water. Finally she gave a snort of disgust and said, “It’s NOT working!”
I live for these funny, growing experiences as we also go through the stubborn, mind-of-her-own 2 year old temper tantrums.
