We had a great invite from one of our friends from our ward to attend the Lord Mayor’s Show.

Without her telling us about it, we would have never known about it! So glad she did and we were able to attend this parade where the Mayor pledges his allegiance to the crown.
There were a TON of bands – from military branches, scouts, clubs – you name it. I’ve never seen so many in one parade!

We were expecting a little bit of candy thrown during the parade. There was none, although the freshly hot sausages they handed out along the way, sure made up for it!

We waited most of the parade to see this group come by:

Before the parade started, they handed out bags of ‘wishes’ you could toss to the ‘wish tree.’ If you made it, your wish came true. All the kids got a purple bag of wishes, which was specified as being ‘a long life wish.’

When the wish tree came, Cami didn’t want to throw her bag, afraid she’d miss and not get her wish. She had me throw it and I missed! I didn’t think much about it as many other people missed as well. After a while Cami came up to me and said she was sad her wish wasn’t going to come true now. Poor girl.
As the parade finished up, the Lord Mayor’s carriage rounded the corner. The kids had seen this carriage in the British Museum and were so excited to see it actually being used. It is very pretty and ornate!

Just the pageantry with the clothes, traditions, and manners is just amazing!
The Lord Mayor himself:

Truly a fun day out at this once a year event.
