Kids Week in the West End was extended for an entire month this year. I’m sure it had something to do with the Olympics being in town, but it was wonderful. Our family, in some way/shape/or form, enjoyed four shows this year.
The first show (and probably ranking on the top of some of our lists) was Singin’ in the Rain. Wow! What a fun show! I thought the kids would be bored with the story line and not being able to understand what was going on, but they were enthralled with it all . . . . the dancing, the singing, and the acting. What a surprise to see it really pour – not just drizzle, but POUR – onstage for the song ‘Singin’ in the Rain’! We were looking down onto the ‘splash zone’ so we didn’t get wet, but it was really fun. (**A small side note for memory’s sake – this is the first time we’ve ever seen a mouse at the theatre. But, there it was, just sitting there enjoying the snacks on the floor at intermission.**)

Singin’ in the Rain
Chris was out of town for our 15th anniversary so I took the kids to The Lion King. Emma and I were the only ones that had seen it before, but not in London. I was anxious to see it again as I wasn’t too impressed the first time. Sadly, the best things about the musical (AGAIN) were the costumes and the theme song. I really wanted to like it more this time. The kids liked it so that’s all that matters.

The Lion King
The other two shows are without photographic evidence, as I didn’t go. While I was out of town with Caleb and Cami, Chris took the older girls to see Horrible Histories. Emma had been wanting to go for a long time, so with Kids Week it was the perfect opportunity. They enjoyed it, but were sad it was only an hour long show.
Lastly, Chris wanted to see Les Mis again (he feels the need to see it about once a year). We had gotten tickets for 2 of the kids to go with him, but it was going to be too late of a night for the 3 girls, so Chris took Caleb for a guy’s night. They reported that it was really good and they had a fun time.
Kids Week – one more reason to love being in London!
