We had fun doing this a number of years ago but somehow the tradition we started slipped away. This year I was motivated to start it up again after Kristi’s post. So for Family Home Evening this week we made up 3 plates of goodies and went ‘spooking.’ Basically we left a note on their plate explaining what it was for with a sign to put on their door saying they’d already been ‘spooked’. Then we went to three different people’s homes from our branch, put the treat on their doorstep, rang the doorbell, and RAN!! Okay, actually I stayed in the car and watched Chris take turns RUNNING away from the homes with each of the kids. Chris complained about me always having the great ideas to do things but making him actually DO them. But, from the smile on his face when he got back in the car, I know he loved it! So, go out and ‘spook’ someone!
I haven’t done that since our first year at Cornell when we lived at Hasbrouck. I am going to do that. Great idea. Now if I can only get Rob to do the running???
Our neighborhood in Ithaca was so good at doing this and it was so fun!
Last year we tried to start it with our neighborhood here, but it backfired. No one else did it, and our kids were sad that no one ever boo’d us back. Maybe we’ll try again.
