The main reason for my parents’ visit was for Hannah’s baptism on January 8th, exactly one month after her 8th birthday.

We were so lucky to have Chris’s parents come out for the event as well!

We really have been so lucky to have both our parents attend all three kids’ baptisms so far, no matter where we live or have it – California, New Jersey, and now England. We’ll see where we are for Cami’s baptism.

Hannah looked so pretty in her baptism dress. This is the same dress that Emma wore as well – Grandma Stephenson made it so lovingly. On the slip underneath, their names and years of their baptisms are embroidered. I love having this as an heirloom!

It really was a great memorable day that Hannah had planned. The grandparents were all able to take part with prayers and talks, while Hannah asked me to play the piano and the Primary children to sing a musical number. There was a great turnout and we were so grateful for everyone that came to support Hannah in this wonderful decision she has made to be baptized.
Our weekend then was spent as major family time. It was wonderful. After church on Sunday, we all took a nice Sunday walk around our park.

The kids enjoyed being outside to run around a bit, while the adults just froze.

We should draw some attention to Caleb’s new ‘look’ – I think he’s adapting to living in England quite well (most recently, he actually found a hat like this that fits better – this is Chris’s hat).

Another favorite event that occurred during the big Baptism Weekend was Backgammon Tournaments. These are always looked forward to whenever Grandpop Nevin is around – we’re not sure who loves them more, the kids or Grandpop.

They tend to get pretty intense and strategic.

It’s always wonderful when we are able to have such great family time. I think we realize that more and more as the years go by and the sacrifices that we all make to try to get together as extended families. It’s not always easy but it’s so worth it. I’m glad my kids feel they really know who their grandparents are as people and connect with them on different levels.
Congratulations to Hannah. And I can’t help but admire that beautiful baptism dress!
Oh, wow! I can’t believe Hannah’s old enough to be baptized. It makes me realize that Kaia will be that old before I know it (about another year and a half). I’d forgotten they’re so close in age – that kind of age difference is a lot more noticeable at the ages they were when you guys lived here.
Congratulations Hannah…what an important step. She has such a sweet smile. I love the baptism dress too.
And Caleb’s hat totally reminds me of my uncle Jerry who served his mission in England and still wears one of those hats. 🙂
