We were so excited this week to have Chris’s sister and her family stop for a visit. They were on their way back to Utah from D.C. and decided to take a side trip to good ol’ New Jersey to let the cousins hang out for a couple of days. We all loved it! Emma assumed the role of guardian over Cousin Bella. Bella enjoyed it and instantly became her shadow, which was very convenient keeping track of them at the park. Caleb was also thrilled to have another little boy in the house!

While the Bensons were here we made sure to hit more than the local parks. We took a day trip to the Jersey Shore to check out some lighthouses. The kids were more excited about the beach than the lighthouses but a little bit of each made for a great day for all of us!

Lastly, to top their trip off in Benson style, we had to enjoy some great food, mostly of local faire. While we were at the shore we found a great seafood restaurant right on the water where a number of us enjoyed fish and chips. We’ll definitely go back there if we make it back to the shore! A little closer to home we stopped in to Rutt’s Hut, where they make Jersey-style hot dogs (called ‘rippers’) that have been made nationally famous by the April 2007 Rachael Ray magazine. It’s 5 minutes from our house but we would have never known it was there until we saw it in the magazine – a hidden treasure for fried foods! Then at home we enjoyed a night of shish-kabobs on the grill with corn on the cob. This was surprisingly a kid-pleaser as we watched them down the kabobs and ears of corn. Amazing!

We had a GREAT visit! Whenever you would like to have a taste of New Jersey, you know where to come visit! We would LOVE it!
I love the pictures of the lighthouses. I definitely want to see some lighthouses while we are here in the East.
You have lots of family visiting you all the time! So fun!
