Halloween is really catching on here in London, but it’s still not like the states. All of the kids’ evening activities and practices were still on. Big competitions and shows are coming up, so I felt we needed to try to attend for a little while, but I did pull them out early so they could get some trick-or-treating in. I was surprised that I was the only one doing that. One of the ballet girls asked me where we were all going and when I told her that we were going to go home to trick-or-treat, she told the girls they were lucky. I asked her if she was going to go and she said, “I don’t celebrate Halloween.”

Girls in Costume
There are plenty of other people that do celebrate Halloween. I think we’ve given out more candy here than anywhere else we have lived. Our street is quite long and most people have started giving out candy. Ours is still the only house with a number of carved pumpkins on the porch, but they are getting there. The costumes have started to tame down from the scary and gory to the cute and cuddly. Halloween isn’t necessarily my favorite holiday, but I’m starting to like it more and more as neighbors visit each other to give treats.

One of our Visitors – the Dixon’s
This year Hannah and Cami put together their own costumes. The older two didn’t want to dress up so they became my helpers. Emma took the girls out trick-or-treating as Caleb let me know when someone knocked on our door (he does NOT like Halloween or opening the door to the unknown creatures) as I made dinner.

Trick-or Treat!
It was a cold night, but definitely a fun one!
