We all go through growing pains at different stages of life and this summer has been one of those stages . . . . for Chris and me as parents.
Emma finishes up her acting camp this week. We were excited for her to have this opportunity as she’d perform in the play at the end of the month long camp. However, we didn’t think much of the ages for the camp that were 9-15. Now, we have become more aware – Emma, being one of the youngest, came home almost every evening with a question about something that happened that day, whether it was something someone said, did, or inferred. I’m glad she could ask us questions but it was an eye-opener for us.
Caleb, on the other hand, has his first real crush. He’s ‘liked’ other girls before but usually because they’ve ‘liked’ him and he thought it was cool. Now he really ‘likes’ a girl on the girls’ gymnastics team at his gym. She is a little older than he is and he’s never spoken to her but that’s all we ever hear about when he comes home from his gymnastics workouts on the days the boys’ and girls’ teams have the same workout schedule. I thought boys were supposed to hate girls at this stage, but I guess not.
Oh boy – we’re really in for it in a few year with these two. We’re not ready!!!
