In a perfect example of how a chain of events can cause havok in a home, we have experienced one small thing after another the last few weeks. Since we rent an older home we assist the owner in taking care of problems throughout the house that need special attention. A few weeks ago special attention was needed to replace a dishwasher, which, after probably 20 years (+/-) finally stopped. The only problem was that the tile floor in the kitchen was installed after the dishwasher and blocked it from being removed. We debated the options and finally decided to remove the tile floor down to the original hardwood floor.

Becca caught Caleb and I in this picture during a male-bonding moment just after we realized there are seven layers of flooring above the original hardwood floor. This includes several layers of plywood base nailed into the previous layers. No wonder we couldn’t remove the dishwasher. Needless to say, Caleb with his hard hat saved us and suggested we only remove the first layer. It took time and much effort, but Caleb did what he does best and managed to help destroy an entire floor of old, extremely hard tile. Now we only need to install the dishwasher.
