When I woke Caleb this morning at 4:30 he grumbled, got out of bed, started to change his clothes, and then looked out the window and said “Dad, I thought you said we would leave in the morning, not the middle of the night.” Although not the middle of the night, it was an early hour, but one must make sacrifices for the finer things in life. Namely, watching a mass early morning hot air balloon launch.

This is the second annual early morning Festival of Ballooning for the Stephenson family (actually 25 years for the festival), and we enjoyed it just as much as last year. Then again, one would have to enjoy it to wake up so early to watch balloons float around. As you can see from the pictures, these aren’t just balloons, but gigantic works of art. What a fantastic day!

That is so neat! What a cool event. I would have to wake up early to see that too. I think I would be too scared to actually go in one someday though.

So cool! I love the pics, too. I don’t think I’d ever be brave enough to ride in one, but it’s sure fun to watch them from the ground. Especially en masse like that.
We’re going to have to get your info on this balloon festival for next year. I love hot air balloons, and Ben took me on one for our honeymoon! They are so fun and so beautiful! Henry is also obsessed with balloons, like most kids probably are. Anyway, we’ll have to talk sometime about where and when this festival is. We would have missed it this year anyway, but hopefully next year . . .
