This summer I had the opportunity to go to EFY (Especially for Youth) in Provo, Utah at BYU. EFY is a camp for Mormon teens where we make friends, have fun, and also have spiritual activities where we have the ability to strengthen our testimony.
Caleb and I flew to Utah with our grandma the Saturday before and our Aunt Eliza picked us up from the Salt Lake City airport. We went to the Cheesecake Factory, which was on my list of American restaurants to visit during the summer.

After church on Sunday, we got to walk around Temple Square.

Caleb also got to get his handstand picture in front of the Salt Lake Temple.

Handstands Around the World

Our cousins met up with us as well during their time in Salt Lake. It was fun to see them and hang out with them for the day. We got to visit the Visitors’ Center, Temple Square, and the Lion House.

On Monday we took the train to Provo and met up with our cousins again to start EFY. We stayed in the dorms of Heritage Halls, each having one roommate.

When we checked in, we were given our annual EFY shirts. This year was the 40th anniversary of EFY so we had special commemorative shirts.

My Company
We were also put into groups by our age and then put into companies. My company took quite a lot of selfies and pictures so I have quite a lot of documentation.
We spent a lot of time with our companies, growing and learning together. One day we played a lot of games, competing against other companies. We really grew together as a group and even hung out during free time.

Us Girls with One of Our Counsellor
My roommate was from Tennessee and had the best accent ever! We became pretty good friends and hung out a lot together.

My Roommate & Me
As our company walked from place to place on campus, each of the girls was escorted by a boy. This is a tradition and it teaches men chivalry, letting everyone be involved with no one walking by themselves.

Being Escorted
One of my favorite days was Thursday, which was the spiritual day. We all wore church clothes and had spiritual topics and testimony meeting. This was a very fun day as I could really feel my testimony growing.

Decked Out in Sunday Best
Towards the end of the week, as I was walking through the Wilkinson Building, I saw a familiar face. It was Mallory from Studio C, a BYU TV comedy show! I grabbed my friends and we followed her to the cafeteria and got a picture with her! I was insanely happy!

Tracking Down Mallory
Unfortunately the week couldn’t last forever and we had to say goodbye. I took the customary goodbye pictures with my counselors.

My Counsellor, Tao
In our company we had a boy counselor and a girl counselor, Tao and Victoria. EFY counselors are the best people ever, if the world was full of EFY counsellors, every day would be amazing!

It was a fun week for both Caleb and myself (as well as my cousins, Lily and Sydney), but all good things must end. I can’t wait to go again!
