Emma’s Application Letter

Yesterday Emma handed me a piece of paper and asked me to deliver it to the local vet’s office.  It states:

Dear sir or madame,

I am twelve years old and would like to be a vet when I am older.  I was wondering if you could allow me to be your assistant.  I don’t want any pay, just experience.  Please don’t make me an animal surgeon for I can’t stand organs, but I love animals.  I love to be with them and help them.  I live on the corner of . . . and can walk easily to your office.  My dad came around to your place to ask you, but you said you only let twelve year olds.  I am now twelve and would like to ask you again.  Please let me know your answer by my cell phone number:  . . . I will expect your answer within a week.  If you do not answer I will be very sad as when or if your answer is no.  Please reply soon.

Yours,

Emma S.

So, would you hire this animal loving gal – at least to sweep the floor for free??

Absolutely! What a great kid your Emma is. Are you sure she’s 12 though? Really I think you just had her. I can’t believe how fast time flies!!!

I’d “hire” her in a heartbeat. Brian worked for several different vet clinics while we were in school and I’m pretty sure there’s LOTS of grunt work they could give her to keep her busy and give her experience 😉

Tell her good luck from these animal lovers!

That’s awesome! She’d be hired by me for sure! I mean…how could anyone turn her down after a letter like that? I wish her the best of luck and hope she will be able to get a foot in the door and some experience in her dream job.
