It was with great trepidation that we reached Emma’s birthday this year, as she turned 12 years old. Twelve is a big number when a lot of changes occur. It is almost a passage from childhood into the teen world. It is a time when they graduate from the Church’s Primary program and enter Young Women. It is an age when you realize they really are growing up too fast!
It had been 5 years since Emma had a birthday party with her friends. She has always opted for a family outing or an outing with a single friend. This year there was no doubt Emma wanted a friend party. She planned everything from the invitation to the decorations to the games. She is a future party planner in the making.
The party was just not long enough to fit in everything she had planned so we narrowed it down to:
Apple Carving-

Pizza Making-

Halloween Twister-

Making a BIG wish-

Bat Cupcakes–

Sending guests off with homemade ‘birthday crackers’–

Emma said she had a great and memorable birthday. I’m sure only made more memorable by her surprise gift . . . a cell phone!

Is this REALLY what I think it is?
What a difference a year makes! I’ve stopped counting down to when she leaves home for college . . . and just hope it doesn’t come too soon!
Happy Birthday, Emma!
Wow, 12!!! She’s not a little girl anymore. It doesn’t seem that long ago you were in our ward and she was just a young one in primary. It looks like she had a great birthday though and what a lucky girl to get a cell phone. Happy Birthday Emma!
Wow! You have a 12 year old?! I still remember the letter you sent me in the MTC telling me she was born. It hasn’t been that long ago has it? Crazy! What a fun party! I’ll bet everyone over there loved all of the Halloween fun. Happy Birthday, Emma!
That wow, I miss you much Emma. I want to say Happy
Birthday.
