. . or so I’ve been told by our resident eleven-year-old. Emma woke up in the wee hours of the morning with a stomach ache and an ear ache. Must have been growing pains because she’s been enjoying her day thus far. Really, a day off of school – who wouldn’t LOVE that?! In true Emma fashion, she has spent her day reading and playing the computer.
Emma had her BIG birthday celebration on Saturday. She told us this year she’d really like to have a friend party and even had everything outlined for her fun event. With a change of heart, she then decided she’d like to choose one friend and go into the city to see “Mary Poppins” on Broadway. That actually sounded more fun to me than gearing up for a friend party. Of course, this meant I was taking them into the city BY MYSELF to see the musical. See how much I love my oldest . . we’ve been here over 4 years and I finally took that big step . . for her.
The biggest mishap of our day in the city was forgetting to put the battery into the camera before we left the house, but at least I had the camera in my phone – not the best pictures, but they are there for the documenting.

Two excited girls on the bus ride into the city

We have ARRIVED!

These two LOVED it!
“Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” definitely won out for the favorite song and dance. Are you already humming it?
On the agenda for this evening: dinner at Outback Steakhouse (Emma’s request) and opening gifts. We may be able to keep our eyes open long enough to have some dessert to celebrate after all that, but we’ll see. Emma decided she didn’t want a cake this year. When I asked her what she would rather have, there was no hesitation when she told me ‘Mint Brownies‘ – you got it!! Cake is far too over-rated anyway, right?!
Happy Birthday, Emma!!
