The kids have wanted a dog FOREVER!! We’ve always had a great excuse that we were in school, our landlord wouldn’t allow it, we’re moving, etc. For some reason, these excuses have run dry and the kids continually try to convince us life just isn’t complete without ‘man’s best friend.’

Bruce
Then our neighbors asked us to watch their dog while they were gone for the weekend . . . we jumped at the chance. We figured this was a great ‘trial run.’
We learned:
- Bruce likes stinky clothes and shoes
- he will bolt under any hole in the fenced-in yard
- even though he is tiny, he is still stronger than Cami
- he likes to mark his territory in the house upon his arrival
- he doesn’t mind being stepped on
- he handles the kids’ cuddling well
- he enjoyed having the kids spoil him

Above all, we’ve learned, we still are not ready for a dog. It was great having the practice, but it was great to send Bruce home when the weekend was over. Perhaps, we’ll just be professional ‘dog-watchers.’
We have the same problem in our house; the kids are convinced we need a dog. Fortunately I can still stand strong on no dogs until there are no diapers (I just have start preparing my next reason why it’s not a good time). Jeremy’s Dad has a dog and he travels a bit so we have become Ringo’s other home and for now a few days at a time is plenty for me!
