Celebrating Cami

We had such a fun time celebrating Cami and her turning 4 years old that I don’t know where to start.

Cami did count down to her special day, with help from her siblings.  A few days before, we prepared a fun game for her ‘party.’

I enlisted the help of the younger girls to make “Pin the Hat on Cami” with personalized hats for everyone.

This game was such a hit, it was played a couple times during the big day.

We may have to make one for everyone’s birthday.

We decided to have Cami’s ‘party’ first thing in the morning since Dad had to work late.  This is a little girl’s dream – not to have to wait to open gifts . . and then play with them all day – it was like Christmas!

One of the joys of watching our kids open gifts, is definitely watching for their reactions.  This was the face we got when Cami opened each gift, and I was so happy to catch it on camera!

Seeing that face just makes me laugh each time.  Needless to say, she was thrilled with everything she received.

Cami had no hidden agendas for her birthday.  When we asked what she wanted for her birthday she thought about it for a minute and then said, “We’ll just see what I get when I open my presents.”  Easy girl!  But, as the time got closer, she would start to say, “All I want for my birthday is a scooter like Isaac’s.  Blue – just like Isaac’s.”

Well, she got her scooter and she was thrilled.  She was even excited that it was pink . . not blue!

She rode it to the library . .

and then all the way home again after lunch . . .

This scooter goes everywhere with Cami, even up to her room with her at night.  Thankfully she hasn’t asked us to tuck it in bed with her.

Later that night, we had Cami’s birthday meal, which she chose:  hot dog chowder and sweet corn bread muffins.  Afterwards, in lieu of a cake, she decided on a strawberry tart.

Such a fun day!  But, the fun was far from over . . .

We usually give the kids a choice between a friend party and a family outing – they usually pick a family outing.  It’s been years since we’ve had a friend party (I like it better that way too)!  So, Cami chose to go to the movies.  We couldn’t find a great movie playing at the time, so we found an American bowling alley and headed there on Saturday.

It was the nicest bowling alley I have every been to as well as being small and quaint, no loud music or lights.  Altogether, I think I saw 6 lanes.

We gave the award for best form to Emma:

But, surprisingly, she came in 2nd on each game.  There must be a reason for her method . . and she takes the teasing quite well, I might add.

First game run down:

Chris 1st, Emma 2nd . . note:  I didn’t even break 100!
Second game run down:

Wait!  Who is that in first?  Mom?!  Emma in 2nd and Chris didn’t break 100!  Just had to get photo proof of my best score ever!

Cami was quite flattered that the bowling alley treated her to a milkshake for her birthday.

She was nice and shared with everyone.  Such a great week celebrating the youngest member of our family!  We’re so glad we have her!
