We had another weekend getaway; this time to Boston. One of those places we had always wanted to take the kids, but had never done it. We jumped at our chance and really loved it.
Of course, any trip that involves staying at a hotel ranks high with our kids because it means cable and a pool! I did my share of swimming in this salt-water pool as well and loved it!

We were able to meet up with our friends, the Iversons, Friday afternoon. We took in the Swan Boats . . .

. . . and then visited the Mallard duck family statues afterward.

If your family doesn’t have a copy of Make Way for Ducklings, it’s one to put on your list of books to get!
For dinner we went to the place that inspired the TV show, Cheers. Granted, the only way I knew anything from the show is that our high school chemistry teacher would bring it in (it was HIS favorite show!) once every quarter to watch as a ‘treat’. It was a neat place to eat.

Saturday was a big history day as we walked the Freedom Trail. The kids enjoyed seeing places and hearing about people that they have studied in history. There was just so much to see and do that we really had to pick and choose. We definitely have made a list of things we need to do the next time we visit Boston. One of our favorites had to be our last stop, the U.S.S. Constitution (aka “Old Ironsides”).

The tour inside was great and I loved how our kids were always ‘front and center’ to hear the tour guides and ask questions.

We also loved all the fountains (which, by the way, you seem to always be allowed to wade in) . . .

. . . and the statues.

Such a beautiful city! We had a lot of fun in Boston!
