Emma is our crafty one. She is very creative and comes up with great ideas to create. Me? I’m more a creative thought person. I have to think about things for a really long time and try to think of what the end result will look like (which is very hard for me). The perfectionist in me hates to spend so much time on a project and have it not work out the way I envisioned. Of course, I love it when it turns out better than I had imagined!
Anyway, last night Emma wanted to make a mailbox for her room. Her ideas all entailed nailing something to the floor or wall, which is a ‘no-go’ in a rental. So, we suggested using boxes. Of course she wanted to do it right away – at bed time! She settled for making the ‘blue-prints’ before she fell asleep.
When she woke up this morning, you can guess what was on her mind. Since 2 of 4 children were still sleeping I thought I could get a foot in for ‘mother of the year’ and help her put it together. After finding boxes that would work with her blue print design we started to put it together. Then we decided it would look better if we decorated it – with wrapping paper. Of course, this is when everyone else decided to wake up and my patience started to give out as everyone else wanted one too! Thankfully, Caleb and Hannah gave up waiting and found other things to use for their mailboxes.
So, here is Emma with her crafty mailbox, designed by herself . . . and wrapped by her not-so-patient mother 🙂
