You know we have been back east a long time when, driving from CA to UT through the deserts of Nevada, you could hear Chris and I both make comments like: “It’s so beautiful!” “Look! There is absolutely nothing here – isn’t it great?!”
We had a relatively uneventful trip to UT, which was great. On our way through Reno we were able to point out to Hannah the hospital where she was born. She hadn’t been back to that area since we left when she was less than a year old. We didn’t have enough time to go by our old house, which is probably best – I miss that house!
On our way to our final destination of Fish Lake, we stopped in to visit some old haunts in Provo. Luckily, my sister, Eliza, still lives in the area so we made her leave work early and come hang out with us on BYU’s campus.

Liza was more than happy to come and even treated the kids to a tour of the new library with its moving bookshelves and the juvenile reading area where she used to work as a student. The highlight, of course, was when Eliza announced to the kids that she would buy them each a book at the book store. They each struggled to find the ‘perfect one’ and it did take awhile for them to decide, but Liza was patient and everyone left happy.

A lot of things have changed since we attended BYU, but it is still a great place. Good old Brigham Young is still there –

And of course, the place where Chris and I met, dated, and became engaged, all within 4 weeks –

We were sad our visit in Provo was so short, but were glad we were able to see Liza and take the kids to the BYU campus.
