You have already seen Becca’s scrapbook page about the Father & Son outing in the post below, but I thought I would share some of the finer details. As you can see, Caleb and I went camping at the Delaware Water Gap this past weekend and had an awesome time. It wasn’t just because of the nature around us, but it brought back so many memories of when I would go with my Dad to these camp outs every year. Friday night Caleb and I sat around the campfire listening to a true “fireside” with all the others and I had thoughts of doing the same thing years ago and enjoying every minute of it. The difference now is that instead of staying up all night afterwards playing “Capture the Flag” in the dark, I went straight to bed because I couldn’t keep my eyes open. The other big difference was that I noticed the little bumps and rocks underneath my sleeping back and the soreness in my back the next morning. Years ago I could have slept on gravel and never noticed a difference.

Caleb was in charge from the beginning and insisted on using his small 2-person tent. I conceded to avoid setting up the 8-person tent, but learned soon after that there is a reason the tent is meant for kids. I barely fit in the tent lying down at a angle, but Caleb loved every minute. We also learned that they didn’t make his tent waterproof. This we learned from the drops of collected dew dropping on us in the morning.
We spent Saturday hiking along the river and exploring the woods. I taught Caleb to skip rocks on the water and we tracked some small animals by their prints on the ground. We had a wonderful time and loved every minute. Caleb and I both can’t wait until next year comes again.
