The weather was so nice today that we spent some time this afternoon geocaching in a nearby county park. One would think that an area so close to Manhattan would be devoid of any open space, but since we live in the “Garden State” we have been able to find many nearby parks and nature areas. Today we spent time in Rifle Camp Park following clues and coordinates with our GPS unit to find two different caches hidden in clusters of rocks. The kids loved the hunt and the wonderful Spring day.

In between caches we hiked the top of a scenic lookout ridge where we saw Manhattan and the whole metro area.

Looks like fun! I wondered if there were geocache adventures available in NJ.
I just love that big floppy hat Cami has on! She looks so hilarious in it! Cute!
I’ve heard of this pasttime. I just don’t understand who puts the “caches” out there for you to find. Do you have to do it yourself? Is there a club (like there is here that I know someone who does on weekends)?
The Boy Scouts have a similar activity – compassing hiking.
