Hannah’s School Year

My first year of school was a bit of a challenge because in homeschool there wasn’t a lot of independence, where in school I had to do a lot of independence.  We also had a lot of projects and field trips.  Some of my favorite projects in school were the hurricane project, pollution project, and the Roman project.

One day we had a special day, International Day.  We had everyone in Lower School dress in red, white, and blue. We did handprints in art so we can put them on a poster to represent us. We had every flag in the world where everyone was from.

My Class & Their Countries

We celebrated Red Nose Day, a UK charity, and we got red noses to take a picture.  Even though it was a ‘special’ day, it was a normal school day, nothing special at all. I was the tallest one in my class even though every one was standing on their  toes, I wasn’t.

My class on Red Nose Day

One of our field trips was Bushcraft – camping out in the woods for 3 days.  Out of all our  field trips, this was my favorite.

Arriving at Camp/Listening to Instructions

Our instructions were:  1.  We weren’t allowed to talk after ‘lights out’.  If someone did, then their whole tent would have to either pick up sticks early in the morning or clean everyones’ dishes.   #2.  No getting out of our tents before they do the ‘morning call’.  #3.  We could not get out of our tents to go to the toilet without a buddy and not forget our flashlight.

Our  First Meal in Bushcraft

Our first meal at Bushcraft was trout with bread and rice. We had to build a fire and put our trout on the grill above the fire. The fish still had the skin, eyes and bones on it. We got to name our troop and it was, The Bushcraft Survivors.

The Girls Lean-to

Our second day we built our lean-to’s. We were going to sleep in them but the weather turned out so bad that we had to sleep in our tents.

Playing in the Cold

We learned a game at Bushcraft and we always wanted to play it so we did and we had so much fun.

Last Day Of School

Our last day of school we had a party and had a water gun fight. Everyone got soaking wet – even the teachers. We got to keep one of the water guns if we wanted to. After that we said good-bye and off we went to the buses and home. My best friend was moving and she is on the very top left in the blue shirt.
