A couple weeks ago at our family night I announced that we would be holding a short skit/play on Christmas Eve to reinact the Nativity story and invited everyone to give input about parts. Emma promptly volunteered to play Mary and Caleb jumped to take Joseph. Hannah wanted to play the part of the Angel and by default Becca and I filled in the rest of the parts (Shepherds, Wise Men, etc). It was only toward the end, when Emma suggested I would make a perfect donkey, that I knew we were going to have a first-rate event.
In fact, little did I know it would be such a production with Emma at the helm. Becca said that Emma wrote a script the following day and was directing the kids with lines and cues. They had also begun arranging their costumes to make the whole experience as natural as possible.

With everything else that was happening the day snuck up on us quickly, but due to Emma’s advanced planning we were well-prepared. We had a wonderful play (for us to watch ourselves) and, more importantly, we were able to focus on the true meaning of why we celebrate this wonderful holiday – our Savior and His birth.
Merry Christmas to all!
