Last week (our last week of break) I stepped out of my comfort zone and let the kids have a craft/project day. I’m not one to encourage my kids to make messes so this has always been a hard one for me to do. Yes, art is a subject that isn’t pushed very heavily in our ‘school.’ But, that doesn’t mean I don’t have craft projects laying wait for a ‘rainy day.’
Emma chose to decorate a wooden frame. I love that she is at the age to do these projects mostly by herself with no supervision.

Hannah chose to make a monkey tree. She was very gracious to let Cami have a hand in the painting as it was quite a bit for one person to do.

Then we came to Caleb – what to do? I had no boy crafts! I had him pull out his Cub Scout book and find a project in there to work on so he could pass it off. That wasn’t quite what he had in mind. Then I remembered my old penny collection books I had rediscovered in my cleaning out. So, I set him down with Chris’s quart sized penny jar and set him to work updating and filling in the gaps. He did a great job (AND passed off a scout requirement, but I won’t tell :)).

So, we are back to school tomorrow – some looking forward to it more than others. Father’s/Husband’s blessings were had at Family Home Evening and we are ready to tackle whatever comes our way!
