The library’s summer reading program has come to an end. We took our weekly trip to the library today and the kids ‘cashed in’ their accumulated points. They debated and debated but these were their decisions:
Emma – 4 books, a butterfly ring, free sundae at Applebee’s, a pencil, a cow figurine, and a free kids’ meal at Chevy’s
Caleb – Dinosaur toy, bath foam, He-man movie
Hannah – whistle, jumprope, Ariel backpack, butterfly ring
These were in addition to the weekly prizes they received, which consisted of certificates for free books at Barnes and Noble, free smoothies at Pollo Tropical, and free games of bowling. They’ve already redeemed their certificates for the books and smoothies. We’ll see if we get around to going bowling.
We’ve been a little busy at the times the programs have been this summer but I think the kids were pretty happy with what they came away with anyway. It’s nice to be rewarded for all the reading they do normally anyway.
