Mothering Sunday is the UK version of Mother’s Day, although I love how it doesn’t just pinpoint ‘mothers’ but all those that ‘mother.’ There is a difference and I think it makes the day easier for those who aren’t mothers, but who have played that part to others. Our high council speaker spoke about how Mothering Sunday celebrates all those who nurture and he felt he could be included in that . . so definitely it’s much broader than just our own mothers!
Chris and I returned from my birthday trip the night before and I guess the kids were really excited to give me what they had prepared so as soon as we walked in the door, they welcomed me with their flowers and cards.

Roses
It is fun to sit and look at the kids’ cards and see their personalities in them. Cami’s card was a drawing she did of the two of us with lots of hearts, torn out of her favorite notebook. Hannah’s was a colorful card she made at Achievement Days with a cute flower they learned how to make. Caleb’s was a notebook paper folded in fourths decorated with black and red (his favorite colors). Emma had purchased the white roses with her own pocket money and gave me a poem:
Hundreds of pizzas cooling on racks,
Hundreds of movies lying in stacks,
Hundreds of book waiting in shelves,
Hundreds of shells lying patiently in sand,
Hundreds of butterflies flitting along,
Hundreds of games gathering dust,
Hundreds of cakes drizzling icing,
But only one mother, best of them all!
I definitely feel blessed to be able to mother these children, but sometimes I feel they mother me as well. I’m so glad we have each other!
