I’m the first to admit that Halloween isn’t a big holiday in our house. I didn’t even bother to get any decorations out for it this time. When I asked the kids what they wanted to be for Halloween, Emma and Caleb both told me they weren’t going to go trick-or-treating so didn’t need a costume. That made it easy.

Extent of our ‘Decorating’
Hannah decided to be a cat and we got together her costume with things we had around the house. She did sew herself a stuffed tail to complete her costume.

Cami decided to be Cinderella, but at the last minute decided to be an angel (which costume we already had).

When Halloween night came, I took the two younger girls out to trick-or-treat, not expecting much, as Halloween is not a British holiday. However, this year it really caught on and there were a lot of people giving out candy and a lot of kids coming to get candy at our door. It definitely makes it more fun when more people participate!

Trick-or-Treating
Maybe next year we’ll resurrect more of our Halloween decorations and enjoy it even more!
I liked Halloween a lot more when I was a kid rather than as the parent dealing with sugar overload. Fortunately my kids were fine with dressing up in costumes we already had. And they seem to have forgotten about their candy now!
