In your neighborhood?
In your neighborhood?
Say, who are the people in your neighborhood?
The people that you meet each day
Recognize this song from Sesame Street? It has been running through my mind all day today . . . and I have no clue the last time I saw Sesame Street! So, what happened to trigger this?
A couple weeks ago I sat down to find a dermatologist from our insurance list. The only requirement I had was it needed to be close because this was something on my to-do list that kept getting pushed off and I just needed to get it done. I found one close by and was able to go this morning. After being shown back to the exam room, the doctor walked in and glanced at my chart. I saw him do a little ‘double-take’ before he asked me, “Where do you live?” I told him a general vicinity and he said, “I think we’re neighbors!” He lives across the street a couple houses down from us!
We’ve lived in this house for almost 2 years – can you believe we don’t even know our neighbors?! Of course, we are friendly and wave when we see them but we don’t know any of them by name and, honestly, everyone on our street pretty much stays to themselves. But, after today I can say I know one of our neighbors by name and know his occupation! Maybe we’ll run into him when the weather warms up and everyone comes out of hibernation!
That is really funny. Our pediatrician has young kids, and I run into him and/or his wife and kids everywhere. And to top it off, one of his daughters is in Hailey’s kindergarten class. So we see alot of him outside of the office.
Good luck getting to know your neighbors!
What a small world!
