An Official Teenager . . .

Can it be, 13?!  Time has flown by so fast, but we officially have a teenager on our hands!

What we love about Emma at 13:

  • Cami (age 5) – “She’s our big sister and I love her very much.”
  • Hannah (age 8 ) – “She’s pretty.”
  • Caleb (age 10) – “She loans me money when I need it.”
  • Mom (age . . ) – “Emma is a great helper in the kitchen and with watching her younger siblings.”
  • Dad (age . . ) – “I love Emma’s continued optimism.”

What Emma likes about 13:

  • “More privileges!”

Her chosen birthday dinner:  homemade pizza followed by root beer floats.

Emma had a good birthday, celebrated over a week’s time in Israel.  We adopted a friend’s family tradition – when our children turn 13, they get to pick anywhere they want to go with only Mom and Dad.  Emma really wanted to go to Egypt but with the unrest there, we kind of shot that down.  Then Chris’s parents called saying they were planning a trip to Israel in October and would we like to go.  Emma’s answer – “Yes!”  So, more to come on our trip soon . . .

Emma also capped off her first year in Young Women’s by finishing her 10 hour value project in Knowledge.  She decided to learn how to make a new type of quilt (rag quilt) following a pattern she found online.

What will Emma’s first year of teenager-dom hold?  Only time will tell . . .

I’m waiting for the Israel posts! Can’t wait to hear how it went. But in the mean time, I really cannot believe you have a teenager! We are a year from that still. And as an aside I know several people who are taking trips or have recently taken trips to Egypt without issue, so don’t take it off the list! It’s amazing!
