Our kids were so excited for New Years Eve! Chris only had to work half a day so he was able to spend the afternoon getting some things done. Then we had a family over from our branch for Family Home Evening. They are quite a bit older than we are but one of their children is in primary with ours so the kids were anxious to see her. We had a good lesson and enjoyed getting to know the parents better over the refreshments.
When our guest’s left, we prepared for our exciting New Year’s Eve party – a movie, a puzzle, and sparkling apple cider! Wohoo – what could be better?! The kids assured us they could stay awake until midnight this year. Last year none of them made it past 9:00 p.m. Well, this year they popped in a movie and we started working on a puzzle so we were all entertained. The next thing I knew I was the only one working on the puzzle, Emma & Caleb were watching the movie, and Chris & Hannah were asleep on the couch.

Half an hour to go until the ball dropped and I was STILL the only one trying desperately to work on the puzzle (it was a 3-D ocean scene – I finally gave up!), Chris had woken up, but the kids were all asleep.

So, we woke the kids up to watch the ball drop and drink the sparkling apple cider then we all went to bed. I know, you can’t get more exciting than that!
We ventured out to the mall this morning, which we found is the perfect time to go to the mall all year – the morning of January 1st. There is literally NO ONE there!! The kids got to ride the carousel twice and we just had a nice relaxing morning, coming home just in time for an afternoon nap!

We hope everyone had a great first day of 2008! Happy New Year!
Looks like a fun time by all. The carousel looks like fun, I’m glad you were able to spend a family day together.
