Pink Christmas 2007

pink-christmas.jpg

This year I participated in Pink Christmas. I first heard about this ‘girlfriend gift exchange’ last year and waited all year long to sign up to do it myself. Basically you get to know someone you don’t necessarily know either through a questionnaire they fill out or through their blog. Then you HANDMAKE something for them for Christmas – this is the part I LOVED about this exchange!!

Every year I try to think of what I can make to give as gifts for our families. I think this is the first year that I came up dry for ideas for everyone but we went to the next best thing – giving some gifts that were handmade . . . just not by us. 🙂

But, I did make a gift for my Pink Christmas gal – she loves to spend time with her family and bake fun things for each occasion. So, I made her this fun game that we love to play as a family (thanks to Leslie who gave all of us the pattern when we were at Cornell AND for Michelle who actually made these for all of us for a FHE exchange!).

I also made her a little book with recipes for each holiday. I got to play around with Photoshop and use my new digital scrapbooking skills!

Then Christmas morning I got to open my gift from the person who got my name, Hannah. She made me this Gratitude book – MADE it!! It’s amazing – beautiful binding and cover.

I’m SO excited to use this book as a Gratitude journal . . . I feel a great New Year’s goal coming on! Hannah also included a big pack of DOUBLE STUFFED Oreo’s – my favorite! (They didn’t get photographed because they were opened and enjoyed right away!) Thank you, Hannah!!!!

That sounds so fun! I’ll have to find out about that too.

p.s. I love your stockings. I could send you the penguin that I used for Lylee if you liked it. I also have a cute gingerbread man pattern. Merry Merry!!!

Natalie – I found a penguin picture off the internet and altered it a little bit to fit the stocking. I got the wrong kind of wonder-under when I was at the store so now I’m just waiting to get the right kind so I can finish the piecing of it all. I’m anxious to work on it – it’s staring me in the face, but I just haven’t been able to make it back to the store! I’ll post a pic when I get it all done.

so funny seeing that game again!! i’d forgotten that i made and gave out the patterns. i think mine is stashed away in my junk drawer – my kids cleverly get it out anytime they want to trick me into giving them a treat. 🙂

I can’t wait to see it!! I have to finish my sister’s baby quilt for her shower THIS THURSDAY. Things definately don’t get done as fast when you have little ones. But I sure do like my kids. What is that game? It looks fun. I signed up for 2008 Pink Christmas.

Becca, I love the gift you got from Hannah!

Your idea was a great one too! We love that game at our house too!
