Halloween

We had a good Halloween this year. We took advantage of being close to Hoboken, NJ for the third straight year as we attended their Ragamuffins Parade. I love that they do this in the afternoon and the kids can trick-or-treat at all the shops along the way as well as in some of the residential areas on our way back to the car.

We only had a few run-ins with scary costumes where Caleb wouldn’t leave my side, but other than that the costumes were cute. If you ever want to see people go over-board with costumes this is the place to see it. People go all-out with decorating their strollers, wagons, dogs, families, etc.

I was flattered that in all these displays of costumes Emma had several people come up and tell her how neat her costume was. There were many more that admired from afar, which made Emma more uncomfortable to see people pointing at her and whispering.

We made it home in time for dinner and the kids enjoyed handing out candy to the few trick-or-treaters that we had.

This being Cami’s real first Halloween, she has fallen in love with candy. As she got squirmy in her stroller while we walked down the street in Hoboken, I just gave her a lollipop to keep her busy. Before I knew it I think she had 3 or 4. Needless to say when we got home, she couldn’t stay still. While we were eating, her legs were swinging non-stop underneath her booster tray. Then at prayer time she was giggly and couldn’t sit still. Finally we just had her run back and forth from room to room to let out some of that sugar energy before we put her to bed.

Wow! What a fun way to trick-or-treat! Sounds like you guys had lots of fun! Coen was the same way with his first “real” Halloween this year. (Last year he was just a few months old!) He got one taste of a lollipop and it was over! When the boys dumped their candy to take inventory, Coen started picking out all the lollipops. Now he begs by the pantry door because he knows they’re in there! What have we done?!

Fun times! I can relate to Cami’s sugar high, Jared was a little too quick to grab candy from our bucket for the trick-r-treaters, although he was so helpful at handing it out too!

It looks like you guys had a blast!!! Emma does have a pretty cool costume. Taylor loved answering the door and handing out candy to the kids just as much as trick-or-treating!
