When we heard Chris’s Uncle Rick would be in Oxford for a work conference, we made sure we could go up to see him. Caleb missed out as he was at gymnastics, but the rest of us had a great afternoon touring parts of Oxford.
We had traditional English weather and sported our wellies.

We have actually come to enjoy this damp weather as the vividly green grass in February makes it very worth it!

We spent most of our time at Christ Church, one of the colleges that is part of Oxford University. There is so much history there, but is mostly known for being the place where Lewis Carroll wrote Alice in Wonderland. It was fun to see all the little subtle objects and learn about the people that inspired some of the characters from that story.
We saw the staircase from the Harry Potter film when the new students are arriving for their first time at Hogwarts. These are the stairs in Christ’s Church that go up to the dining hall, which is still used today by the students.

This was my second time visiting Oxford and I just love the history in the architecture and the overall feel of it. It truly is a beautiful place.

It was a great afternoon topped off with a fire juggler . .

. . and ice cream.

True perfection, according to Cami!
We had a great afternoon with Uncle Rick. We figured it’s been 8 years since we’ve seen him – time marches on so quickly, it’s amazing. Who would have thought that our next meet-up place would be in England?! We love that England is a place we’ve been able to meet up with many friends and family members.
