I have to admit we didn’t have any new visitors, but we kind of ‘borrowed’ our friends, the Mayers, for a little while.

They were actually here visiting family and we snuck in a day to follow them around during their London touring.
They decided to see the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace.

We hadn’t done that so thought it a great idea. Okay, four words – way too many people!

The kids were so frustrated that they couldn’t see anything so we finally just left before it was over.

This is definitely not on our ‘to do again’ list. Perhaps we might go again for the inside tour when they do that, but the actual ceremony is too chaotic to see what little we were able to see.
However, the queen had arrived home by helicopter right before the ceremony started.

We then walked down the street to get a better view of the guards at the horse stables.

One guard is just like the other, no matter what they are guarding, right?

Further down the road, we came to Trafalgar Square.

Still way too many people . . .

so after a few pictures,

. . . we were off to a pizza lunch. Then we had to say good-bye. It was great to be able to see them – the kids just picked up where they left off 4 months ago. It is a little surreal to have friends from other places in London – it’s like two worlds colliding, but we love it!
