One of the sad things about moving right before Christmas is that we weren’t able to decorate or set up our tree at the beginning of December. As a matter of fact, our tree, decorations, and all our ornaments were packed and are slowly making their way here by sea, arriving the end of January. Thank goodness we were able to stash our stockings in our suitcases in hopes that Father Christmas will come visit us here.
In order to make our flat festive, we set out to find a Christmas tree. As we went out exploring, the kids and I found a little tree vendor selling the perfect size Christmas trees for a small flat. The kids picked one out and we watched the man wrap it up in his little machine.

Caleb volunteered to carry it home, but in true ‘Caleb fashion’ he convinced Hannah how much fun he was having and by the time we arrived home, Hannah was carrying it. Sometimes we wonder if Caleb’s true name isn’t ‘Tom Sawyer.’

Not having any ornaments or other decorations, we decided to make some ornaments with paper. Then we discovered we didn’t have anything but lined notebook paper. Luckily we stumbled on a ‘pound store’ (similar to a ‘Dollar Store’) across the street where we bought a box of lights, wrapping paper, and a glue stick to make the ornaments. The kids set to work on decorating and now we have a one-of-a-kind original tree.

I think we are ready for Christmas!
