Back to Life, Back to Reality

We just got back from a week long trip to California for a family reunion. What a week! We were able to relax – what a difference from the normal fast paced New York City life we tend to lead. The kids loved playing with their cousins outside at Grandma and Grandpa’s house – there were the tree house, the swings, the hammock, the pool, the raspberry bushes, the cats, and on and on.

We even ventured away from Grandma and Grandpa’s to do some bowling, go-carts, and a trek to a mine in Grass Valley.

Chris was able to do some manual labor with his brother and dad. His body is so used to sitting at his desk that he woke up quite sore after working on Great Grandma’s new aviary. Caleb liked getting in on the tool action as well.

Last time we flew back from California after Thanksgiving I was in tears because of the rudeness from a couple passengers. We were doing the best we could with our kids flying cross country but there was no empathy. This time I am happy to report, we had nothing but compliments!! Such a difference emotionally when you have to travel all day with four children.

We were all sad to leave CA – the kids were all in tears at the airport, but we are back and trying to get back into our life and the reality that surrounds it. But, I am happy to get back to our normal schedule – it may take a couple days but I look forward to it, although we will miss the time with our family. We’re looking forward to the next reunion!

Looks like everyone had A LOT of fun!!! I’m glad to hear your fellow passengers were much nicer this time around, that would make your trip that much more enjoyable.

What a fun trip! Sounds like you had a great time! I can’t wait until my family can all get together again! It’s been a long time. So hard when everyone’s so spread out but it sure makes you appreciate them more! Welcome home!

So fun! We are heading to UTah next Friday for a family reunion. I am hoping our flights will go well too. I can’t believe how rude other people can be when it comes to small children, I mean come on weren’t they children once too??
