Going along the lines of Random Acts of Kindness that I posted about last week, we became a recipient of one last night. When the kids were going to bed, Caleb & Hannah were standing on their beds, falling/jumping backwards onto their pillows. Hannah missed her pillow and hit the back of her head on her bookshelf headboard. She had a large & deep gash on the back of her head. Chris took her to the emergency room where they put in 6 staples. Chris was so tired when they finally got home that I got little details about the whole experience from him, but rather from Hannah. She said it hurt when they put the staples in but the doctor gave her a snack, juice, color papers, and a blanket. The bonuses of her trip to the Emergency Room really outweighed the real reason she was there. I was so thankful for the caring staff and the provisions they made to help a little girl who was hurting and scared.

The blanket she received is a cute fleece blanket with binding around it. I was so impressed that they would give this to her. Then I noticed the tag on the back, “Made for you with love from Project Linus.” So, I looked up their web page and was so impressed with what I read. I want to get involved doing this with my kids. If you are looking for somewhere to contribute in any way, this is a great place to do it. They have instructions to make blankets if you don’t know how and have other avenues in helping such as through donating money, mailing supplies, gift certificates for fabric stores, or the actual materials.
I hope Hannah is feeling better after all those staples!! Thank you for coming back to my blog and posting about Project Linus!!
My girls just started yesterday playing around with my sewing machine. I told them we could go to Walmart and get some fabric for them to practice. How neat would that be for them to make a blanket and donate it to Project Linus!! thanks for the great idea!
I’ve heard of this group before, but I’ve never heard of anyone who has recieved one of their blankets. When I finally finish knitting the baby blanket I’m working on, I want to make a few blankets for them. Let us know how it goes for you guys!
Poor Hannah! That is not fun! I have to say, that the 3 times we have been in the ER for stitches I am been very impressed with how kind they are to children. It really makes a difference.
I think the Project Linus thing is a great idea! Post pictures when you do make something!
Aww, Poor Hannah. I hope she doesn’t have too much of a headache today. Project Linus seems like such a great idea! Most charities have tons of requirements for donations, but this seems like you can make almost any kind of blanket to donate. Makes it easier for those of us who aren’t as experienced. We should have a blanket making party!
very cool!!! isn’t it amazing the comfort a blanket can bring!
Becca- Come check out who won the Give away over at my blog!!!!
